About Saharsa Bihar.

Saharsa is a small city in the state of Bihar. The population here was 2 lakh 16 thousand in the year 2011, which has now increased. And mainly Maithili, Hindi, and Urdu languages are used. The city is located in the eastern part of Bihar and is well connected by land to Nepal, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The city is known for its temples, agriculture (mango, litchi) and small-scale industries. Famous places here include Matasyagandha Mandir, Matasyagandha Lake, and Jayprakash Udhyan. People from nearby cities also visit and pray in these tourist places.

Here, agriculture is also done on a large scale, in which the production of paddy, sugarcane, makhana, and maize is the highest, especially makhana and maize, which is exported to western, southern, and eastern countries in a quantity of more than 2 lakh tonnes every year. Small industries are also located in this city, in which about 10% of the population works, these industries and factories include Bricks manufacturing, Tambacoo manufacturing, Rice Mills, and Argo’s private factory, including more than 18 small and medium enterprises.

The city was born on 1 April 1954 when it was carved out from Munger and Bhagalpur. However, on 2 October 1972, it was made the headquarters of the district. The meaning of the name Saharsa is “full of joy” which originated from the Sanskrit word. Koshi river is the only river that passes through the city a little far west. And also a major reason for floods. The only radio station in the city is “Akashvani Saharsa – 100.1 MHz”.

Airways – This city has an airport strip but it’s not been fully functional till now so any kind of air-travel people has to go to its nearest airport which is (Darbhanga Airport). It is a domestic airport which means you can fly into India from here but can’t take any international flights. this airport is located 98 kilometers away in the east direction from here. it takes 2hour and 40minutes to reach there.
